Letchworth City Chorus

City Chorus is a friendly community choir, open to anyone who enjoys singing.

There are no auditions, so why not join us at a rehearsal on Wednesdays from 7:30pm to 10:00pm at Central Methodist Church and see what we're all about? Rehearsals are relaxed, enjoyable, and welcoming, and you don't need to be able to read music to take part.

The joy of choir singing comes from bringing voices together to create something special. Singing is great for both physical and mental wellbeing, and the friendship, teamwork, and sense of belonging within our choir will soon have you coming back for more.

Our varied repertoire includes anything from contemporary pop hits and classic rock favourites, to jazzy show tunes and uplifting sacred music, offering something for everyone.

The Story So Far...

Every year City Chorus put on 2 concerts in the summer, and 2 concerts at Christmas. But that's just not enough for us! We are performers and are happiest when we're singing out in the community, or getting involved with local events. Our spring Tea Concerts are ever popular, and our sing-outs around the town are legendary!

Read below to see how we've grown as a choir, not only in number but also in the community.

2026 - Summer - The Power Of Love
2026

Following a memorable tour to Wales, where we were delighted to sing alongside the renowned Llantrisant Male Voice Choir, we returned home to present our summer concerts, The Power of Love.

This year also marks a significant new chapter for the choir, as after 16 years at the Free Church we have relocated to the Central Methodist Church, where we will host our Christmas Concerts in December for the first time..

WE'RE 15 YEARS OLD!

To celebrate, we held a birthday party for the choristers at Letchworth Golf Club in March.

Our summer concerts are themed on the Alphabet, with a range of stunning pieces sung jubilantly by the choir. Tickets will be available nearer the time, so save the dates, Friday 27th June at 7.30PM and Saturday 28th June at 2.30PM!

'It's About Time!'

This summer our repertoire featured songs all about time, some more subtle than others!

Our Christmas concerts were a sell-out, this year being hosted by St. George's Church for the first time.

Our 'Christmas Cracker' season would not be complete without singing at Kings Cross or the Garden City Brewery!

'Lights, Camera, Music!'

This summer, our concerts showcased unforgettable songs from the world of cinema, while our hugely popular 'Christmas Past, Christmas Present' concerts were such a hit that we added a third performance for the first time!

With fantastic attendance at every show, we’re incredibly proud to support our local charities by doing what we love most - performing!

We're back with a bang!

We couldn’t let our 10 Year Anniversary go by without a celebration, so we marked the occasion with 2 spectacular summer concerts!

We also made a return to Todd In The Hole this summer - an incredible event filled with music for all.

As Christmas arrived, we hosted two sell-out concerts inspired by 'The Joy of Christmas'.

'Christmas Is Back!'

We weren't going to let Covid win, so we held a much-needed socially-distanced Christmas concert! We missed singing, and couldn't wait to perform again!

Well, Covid rather ruined our plans to host a concert to commemorate our 10 Year Anniversary, but watch this space because we'll be back!

Not content with just holding our 'Seasons of Love' themed Summer concerts, we also sang at the Letchworth Festival in June, held a fundraising event with Global Harmony and Hitchin Allstar choirs, and sang on stage at the Todd In The Hole festival in July.

We also had the absolute privilege of singing on the Letchworth Broadway stage with none other than the amazing Tenors Un Limited in December, as well as holding our '12 Days of Christmas' concerts and festive sing-outs in aid of local charities!

We also hosted a concert with the Llantrisant Male Choir in May, held a concert to raise funds for St. Michael's church in July, and our patron, Pam Rhodes, compered our Christmas concerts in aid of Garden House Hospice. We also lead the Christmas Carols at Letchworth Hall Hotel on Christmas Eve, which was really magical.

City Chorus was founded on the 20th January 2010. The first rehearsals were held at the Letchworth Salvation Army. The Chorus soon outgrew the church hall, so City Chorus moved rehearsal venues to the Letchworth Free Church.

The Debut concert at the Letchworth Free Church was entitled 'Hand in Hand' and also featured the Wilbury Junior School and Philip Fisher - Tenor Horn Soloist.

City Chorus celebrated the festive period with the 'When Christmas Comes to Town' concert held at Plinston Hall Letchworth.
